Our Story

After years of working inside growing small businesses, I saw the same patterns: talented owners with great ideas overwhelmed by scattered systems, manual tasks, unclear processes, and constant follow-up. Their businesses were growing, but the structure behind it had not caught up. They did not need more tools, more noise, or more complicated advice, they needed clarity.

That is why I started Cut the Chaos — to help small businesses bring order to the messy stage of growth. I help organize workflows, improve CRMs, automate repetitive tasks, document processes, and build practical systems that make the day-to-day easier to manage.

The goal is simple: turn overwhelm into organization, confusion into clarity, and reactive operations into systems that support real growth. Because when your business runs better behind the scenes, you finally get the space to lead it with confidence, and return to doing what you love.

Mitzy Farrell

Mitzy Farrell is the founder of Cut the Chaos, where she helps small business owners turn messy, overwhelming operations into clear, streamlined systems that support growth.

With 20 years of experience across publishing, freelancing, retail business ownership, management consulting, operations, and entrepreneurship, Mitzy understands what it takes to keep a business moving behind the scenes. As a former retail stationery store owner and small business owner herself, she knows how quickly things can shift from “busy” to chaotic—and she brings a practical, supportive approach to helping business owners regain control, simplify their systems, and create more breathing room.

Mitzy graduated cum laude from Mount Saint Mary College with a BA in Communications and earned an MS in Publishing from Pace University. She also completed the Executive Leadership Program through the Dutchess County Regional Chamber Foundation and is an active member of the Dutchess County Regional Chamber’s Women’s Leadership Alliance and Ambassador Committee. A lifelong learner, Mitzy continues to expand her skills through AI, operations, and business technology certifications.

Mitzy lives in the beautiful Hudson Valley with her husband and is proud mom to four adult children. Their blended family—often loud, messy, and beautifully chaotic—was part of the inspiration behind the name Cut the Chaos. In fact, a favorite family drawing says it best: “Some call it chaos, we call it family.”  That same spirit of finding humor, heart, and clarity in the middle of the mess carries into the work Mitzy does with small business owners every day.

Outside of work, she enjoys puzzles, traveling, going to concerts, visiting craft breweries, and spending time at the lake in Tennessee. She is a breast cancer survivor and gives back through volunteer work with Sparrow’s Nest Charity and Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation.Chaos family
